We sat down with Kerry-Anne to discuss what being a business analyst entails, why it plays such a critical role in the success of implementation, and why helping our customers is so satisfying.
Hi Kerry-Anne, could you start by telling us what your role at mpro5 is?
Hi! Yes, I am the senior business analyst for mpro5.
Can you tell us about your background?
I’ve always been in the software space – I love technology and I particularly enjoy making connections with customers, whether it’s understanding their requirements or teaching them how to get the most out of the product.
I started with a company that provided software for university students, teaching them how to use it for their studying. From there I’ve worked mostly in the SaaS space – which has given me a solid background in providing services.
What does a typical day look like for you?
My role is to understand the customer’s requirements, and to translate those into a spec for the solution architects. It’s about being involved at the right time and really listening to what the customer wants.
Sometimes, they might not know exactly what they need, but that’s why it’s crucial to take the time to really understand their business and come back with ideas for achieving their goals.
How do you think mpro5’s approach to service differs from other companies?
The service team at mpro5 are fantastic and totally dedicated to the customers. We also offer a level of customisation that I haven’t seen before.
Even the small things make a big difference, like being able to use their own terminology for a workflow, which helps with adoption because you’re not teaching them a new language to do a familiar task.
And what part of the job do you find the most satisfying?
That moment when you present what you’re going to do and it’s exactly what they wanted.
Understandably, a lot of people have negative feelings towards new software, but once they see what they’re getting, all that worry melts away and they are incredibly excited and grateful.
It’s even better when other departments start looking enviously at the solution their colleagues have!
Finally, but most importantly, what is your favorite film?
I’m going to pick two: Django Unchained for the incredible cast and Moulin Rouge! because Baz Luhrmann is a great director.
